With the twelfth pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected running back Marshawn Lynch. The Bills seemed to be 100% committed to taking linebacker Patrick Willis, but the 49ers snagged him with the previous pick. Lynch is definitely a reach here, but with Willis McGahee going to the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills couldn't wait until another round to get their guy.

Playing at California for three seasons, Marshawn Lynch has posted consistent numbers since becoming a starter two years ago. He is very strong and difficult to bring down. He has good vision and his instincts allowed for him to run for over six yards a carry. His ability to continue moving his legs after contact resulted in a lot of success in short yardage situations, especially down near the goal line. He had a career high 34 receptions during his final college season, including four receiving touchdowns.

His speed is adequate, but he probably won't run by the faster defenders in the league. Although he caught a good amount of passes in his final season, he still needs to work on that part of his game. He will focus more on power, which means he won't make many defenders miss with elusive moves. He split carries in college and wouldn't be ready to be a team's featured back right away in the NFL, but could excel in the type of roles that Laurence Maroney or Joseph Addai had in their first seasons. Lynch could still work on his blocking ability, as well as some character issues.

This past season, he had 223 carries for 1,356 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns, all of which were career highs. Lynch is a rather complete back, despite some elusiveness that would be desired a little more.
