Just as people thought that it was a done deal between the Ravens and Gary Baxter, the deal shifted to the Cleveland Browns.
Baxter was ready to re-sign with the Ravens, but there was a conflict with the signing bonus that the Ravens and Baxter had agreed on. Before anyone knew it, Baxter signed a six-year deal with the Browns to replace Anthony Henry, who recently signed with the Cowboys.
Last season, Baxter started all 16 games with an interception, but he played very well overall on defense.
"I like the direction the team is headed, and I'm really looking forward to playing in front of the Dawg Pound," Baxter said.
Baxter was with the Ravens when Phil Savage was with the organization as well.
