As we all knew, with the first pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected offensive tackle Jake Long from Michigan. The Dolphins were in a situation where they couldn't have been too excited about having the No. 1 overall pick this year. The Dolphins nearly had the most holes of any football team in history last season, as they finished with a 1-15 record. Bill Parcells has already come in and cleaned up quite a bit, but the organization would rather have several high picks rather than "the" high pick.

Staying at No. 1 though, the Dolphins were pretty much forced to decide between the two Longs -- Chris Long and Jake Long. Although both players would have filled a need, the Dolphins went ahead and signed Jake Long prior to the draft, making him the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL. Something seems flawed in that, considering many feel Long would've been ranked behind Joe Thomas last season (who was selected third overall). So, now that the drama is removed from the first overall pick this season, the Rams will be the first "true" team on the clock.
