With the twenty-fourth pick of the 2007 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected safety Brandon Meriweather from Miami. This is the first of the Patriots two first-round draft picks, and it was expected that they would select a defensive back at this pick. If Aaron Ross had not been picked by the New York Giants several picks earlier, I believe the Patriots would have taken him.
Meriweather will try to add some energy to the Patriots defense, as most of their players on that side of the ball are aging. When the Patriots are on the clock in a few picks, it is worth noting that linebacker Paul Posluszny is still available.
