With the twenty-ninth pick of the 2007 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected offensive guard Ben Grubbs. The Ravens passed on offensive guard Justin Blalock, who was still on the board.

Ben Grubbs is considered the second best offensive guard in this year's draft, although teams can make a legitimate case of selecting him ahead of Justin Blalock due to having more experience at the position. Grubbs has more quickness and adequate footwork for the guard position than most other guards entering the draft. He has a sizable amount of potential, including his ability to pull towards a certain direction.

He needs to improve on finishing his blocks, which also results from his lack of aggressiveness on a consistent basis. Unlike Blalock, Grubbs excels more so in the passing game than he does in power run blocking. On power run plays, he will often get pushed backwards - this is the primary thing he'll have to improve upon to be a solid starter in the NFL.

Grubbs started his career out as a defensive tackle and then a tight end, before finally being made into a guard in 2004. His breakout year came as a senior.
