With the 23rd pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected running back Rashard Mendenhall from Illinois. Mendenhall has the tools the team is looking for -- a big back capable of bowling over defenders and carrying the load for an entire game. It'll be very interesting to see how much this impacts Willie Parker's playing time this season.
With Mendenhall falling this far and the Lions shockingly trading up to get Gosder Cherilus, the pick makes sense at this point.
