Free agent quarterback Quinn Gray will sign a one-year deal worth $645,000 today, barring any complications.
In the offseason, I considered Gray one of the top free agent quarterbacks on the market. With the Texans, there is a chance that Gray could see some playing time this season.
Starter Matt Schaub had injury problems last season, and it's hard to tell whether he'll return to his old form. Backup Sage Rosenfels is still with the team, but that could change with Gray coming in. Either way, Gray provides the insurance needed if either of the other quarterbacks goes down or is no longer with the team.
Gray himself confirmed the likelihood of a deal:
"I don't plan on leaving here," Gray said. "I'm ready to sign. We've been talking on the phone, and now I'm going to meet face to face with Coach Kubiak..."
"My agent [Drew Rosenhaus] has an agreement in place. It's a one-year deal."
