The Tennessee Titans signed restricted free agent cornerback Chris Carr to an offer sheet on Friday. The Oakland Raiders will have seven days to match the offer, and if they choose not to match, Carr will officially become a Titan. Because Carr was an undrafted free agent when he signed with the Raiders in 2005, the Raiders would not receive a draft pick from the Titans for losing Carr.
Carr has started four games at cornerback over his three seasons with the Raiders. He recorded 28 tackles last season and has one interception in his career.
More effectively, Carr was used as a kick returner for Oakland. He quickly became the team's all-time leader in kickoff returns and yardage. During the 2006 season, he had a 25.5 yard kickoff return average. The Titans were searching for answers at the kick return position last year, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Carr competed for that position if he were to join the team.
