Revamping Pro Football Critics
Written by Chris Pokorny on May 15, 2008

It's become clear that during the offseason, it's been difficult for Pro Football Critics to attract a lot of visitors. Part of that has to do with the fact that there's no real need to come and read general NFL news stories at a website like this, when most people already simply go to Yahoo Sports, ESPN, or NFL.com for that type of stuff.

The new strategy for PFC is the one that ideally should've been put into place from the beginning: having innovative content. During the offseason, no longer will I be reporting on general football news in the Associated Press format. If there is a late-breaking story -- such as a major injury that will affect all of football -- I'll touch on it, but with a unique spin.

Here are the features you can expect at PFCritics from here on out:

Power RankingsPower Rankings: This remains one of our most popular features, and although the mainstream media sites do this as well, it still remains a good comparison. A new feature that will be incorporated this year is a team-by-team cumulative ranking from select mainstream media sites.

Mailbag SessionMailbag Sessions: Not enough people have been sending in questions, so I'm going to have to go and solicit people for their questions. One way or another, there will be increased interaction. Speaking of which, if you have a question, whether it be NFL-related or not, pop the question (no, not that one)...

PSD CutsPSD Cuts: This used to be an extremely popular feature here at PFC, but unfortunately I stopped having time making the Photoshop cuts of NFL players. Bringing this feature back will hopefully allow graphic makers to utilize our resources to their heart's content!

Comics (Unnamed): I can't say whether it will be a weekly feature or a bi-weekly feature, but an exclusive football comic strip is coming to PFCritics. Be prepared for stick figures mocking NFL players and coaches at their finest.

That's only a few of the features I have in store for Pro Football Critics. Do you think you'll be interested in helping out the process, or contributing in some form? If you'd like to join our staff, contact me regarding a position. We've been around since 2003, and I'm confident that this new path will continue to bring further success to the site!
