Jay Cutler
-
College: Vanderbilt
Position: QB
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 230 lbs.

Player Information: Jay Cutler really impressed scouts at the Senior Bowl, pushing him just behind Vince Young and Matt Leinart in the quarterbacks class. He played for Vanderbilt the past four seasons, and led his team to a 15-0 season during his senior year. He threw for 2,252 yards and 31 touchdowns as a senior, and rushed for about 500 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Cutler is very physical who also played safety at Vanderbilt(although he won't see any defensive playing time in the NFL). It is believed that whoever gets Cutler may be getting a steal in the sense that he had virtually no weaknesses in college. He throws the ball accurately on a consistent basis and leads his receivers well. He has a strong arm to throw the deep ball, but his long throws are not the most accurate. He is very athletic and has no problems rolling outside of the pocket, throwing on the run, and using his feet to pick up yards when needed. One knock on Cutler is that he tries to make a play too often rather than eating it occasionally, resulting in interceptions. Solid coaching should allow Cutler to develop into a smart, game-managing quarterback in the future.

It is doubtful that Cutler will go in the top ten, but he should go somewhere in the first round. If a team feels that they need a knew quarterback and don't want to risk waiting until the second round, he could be taken around the half-way point of the first round.
