Jimmy Williams
-
College: Virginia Tech
Position: CB
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 215 lbs.

Player Information: Jimmy Williams did an outstanding job at the safety position for Virginia Tech originally, but then was asked to play cornerback after DeAngelo Hall went to the NFL. Williams was just as good, if not better, at the corner position and is likely the best cornerback entering the draft.

Due to his versatility in college, teams can play Williams at both safety and cornerback if they choose not to start him right away. However, to make a proper adjustment to the NFL, it would be best if he stays at one position, cornerback. He is a very hard hitter as a cornerback, which comes from his instincts as a former safety. He is a very good open-field tackler and rarely allows someone to break free once he gets a hand on them. He is able to leap very well and should not have problems against the taller receivers in jump-ball situations, but there is some concern that he may get burned down the field occasionally. Williams has a lot of promise, but could be similar to "Pacman" Jones in the sense that he will need to attain some NFL experience until his true talents are showcased.

Regardless, Williams will be selected in the first round, probably near the half-way point.
