In our Week 11 Power Rankings, the San Diego Chargers have taken advantage of the two game losing streak of the New England Patriots and have claimed the second spot. Last year, the Chargers held that same No. 2 spot around this time, right behind the No. 1 Colts. However, San Diego failed to keep that spot after several shocking losses, and even failed to make the postseason. This year, they'll try to avoid that when they play a huge divisional game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night. These rankings were made on November 17th, 2006, right before Week 11. These rankings take into account the momentum teams had from last week, as well as their expectations heading into the season.

Rank Team Comment
(1) - It doesn't matter how close teams come to beating you if you pick up a victory every week. Besides, Peyton Manning can respond to any score an opposing team puts on the board at this point.
(4) - It hasn't been pretty on defense the past couple of weeks, but the Chargers offense is trying to become the top scoring team in the league. All it took was a couple of handoffs to LaDainian Tomlinson to get it done.
(6) - Maybe we overreacted by dropping the Bears five spots after their loss to the Dolphins. It took a long Thomas Jones run to get them going against the Giants, but the win means a lot for finishing in first place.
(3) - The offensive mistakes for the Broncos started up again against Oakland, so they were fortunate that a couple of late plays saved the day. Cutler may be a better option for the future, but they must stick with Plummer now.
(2) - Two losses in a row is unheard of for Tom Brady and the Patriots these days. Suddenly, instead of cruising away with the division, the Patriots will have to look over their shoulders at the New York Jets.
(5) - The Giants' winning streak ended against the Bears, as they simply fell flat after Jones' big run. Fortunately, they still have a nice little 3-0 record in their division.
(7) - It has to be concerning that the Ravens were not able to stop Travis Henry very well without Ray Lewis in the lineup. Defensive injuries killed the Ravens last year.
(8) - The loss to the Steelers won't hurt the Saints too much, but for every loss they have, either the Falcons or Panthers are bound to get closer. The big concern has to be the big plays they allowed from Willie Parker.
(13) - With Donte Stallworth back at full strength and the offense back on its feet, the Eagles will be looking to end their pattern of unusual losses this season.
(14) - Tony Romo has already surpassed the expectations I set for him. Here's one thing he's done that not many quarterbacks have been able to do: make Terrell Owens happy. Maybe it has to do with a young quarterback who listens.
(17) - The Seahawks are 6-3, and looked to have survived a tough stretch without Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck by sweeping the Rams.
(11) - With more defensive performances like that, Julius Peppers could be the defensive player of the year.
(9) - Chad Johnson could break the receiving record and the Bengals defense would still give the game up.
(10) - Two weeks ago, the Falcons probably circled "vs. Detroit" and "vs. Cleveland" as the easiest stretch of their schedule.
(12) - Although Garrard's interceptions were mainly from dropped passes, the Jaguars as a team are just too inconsistent still.
(21) - The victory over the Patriots was perhaps the biggest upset this season, more so than the Dolphins over the Bears.
(20) - They'll need a lot more performances like that from Parker if they want to win out.
(15) - The return of Trent Green came at the right time: when the Chiefs are in the playoff hunt.
(22) - Brett Favre is proving that retirement was not an option, because the Packers are in the wildcard hunt.
(24) - Surely, the 49ers can't make it three in a row with a win over Seattle? Or can they?
(16) - Scott Linehan's team has gone from a work of art to a disappointment in a matter of six weeks.
(28) - With how Miami has played the past two weeks, you have to wonder if they would've been a playoff contender had they been like this from the get go.
(27) - It's official: for now, the Texans own the Jaguars.
(26) - Sean Jones is making a difference on Cleveland's defense this year.
(18) - Portis is gone, Brunell is benched, and Campbell is in, a.k.a. season is over.
(19) - So, what's the explanation for the Vikings suddenly becoming a very poor football team?
(23) - The Buccaneers are 0-1 in the first of three games in their 11-game stretch.
(25) - The fight they put up against the Colts is admirable, but another loss was chalked on the board.
(29) - So, what happened to Jon Kitna supposedly torching the 49ers pass defense?
(31) - It had to of killed Titans fans to see McNair and Mason rally on a different team.
(30) - I would be in favor of Aaron Brooks playing instead of Andrew Walter, not that it'd make much difference.
(32) - Matt Leinart and Vince Young aren't having bright first seasons, but they always have the future.
