Tell Chris your opinion.

In our Week 17 Power Rankings, the story that tells all could involve one simple win or loss in the final games of the season. For the Bengals, their high ranking won't mean a thing if the Jets don't lose to the Raiders. And, despite the Giants playing so horribly, they still remain rather high in the rankings due to holding the final wildcard spot for the time being. These rankings were made on December 28th, 2006, right before Week 17. These rankings take into account the momentum teams had from last week, as well as their expectations heading into the postseason.

Rank Team Comment
(1) - They deserve credit for coming from behind to win a tough game against a Seattle team that isn't as bad as their record shows.
(2) - At least for this year, the Ravens own the Steelers. With another win, they'll clinch a first-round bye.
(4) - By time the playoffs come, the Bears defense will return to their dominant form.
(3) - The Colts decided to pull off the hat trick and lose to everyone in their division once.
(5) - After taking a nap offensively the week before, Reggie Bush and the Saints are back on track.
(7) - Honestly, how have the Patriots been this good without a go-to-receiver? Tom Brady.
(9) - The Eagles have pulled off the unthinkable, and with another win, will capture their division.
(6) - The Cowboys have had poor offensive gameplans against two tough teams - Philly and New Orleans.
(11) - As much as I didn't like Jay Cutler coming in so late in the season, the Broncos have all but clinched a playoff spot.
(8) - One botched snap seems to have decided the season. Don't forget though, the Bengals didn't hit several big plays during the game.
(14) - I think a loss to the Raiders next week would be more painful than if the team never even contended.
(10) - The Jaguars have a good defense, a good running game, and a decent quarterback situation. Unfortunately, they still can't get over the hump.
(12) - The Seahawks could be the first 8-8 division winner in awhile, but they're still very dangerous.
(15) - Win, win, win, win, win, and win. Vince Young in the postseason would be incredible.
(16) - The Chiefs need to make it a priority to add a big-name wide receiver next season.
(13) - Besides Giants fans, no one wants to see this club in the playoffs due to how bad they've been.
(19) - The Bills have had a good season overall, but the big question will be if they can start off hot next season.
(21) - Steven Jackson is finally being utilized appropriately by the Rams. Took them long enough.
(24) - If the Giants lose and the Packers win, chances are that Favre will see the postseason.
(18) - I know Vick's not the best passer, but he isn't the problem with the Atlanta Falcons.
(23) - With Jake Delhomme returning, the Panthers will hope that things fall their way this week.
(17) - It's certainly been awhile since Pittsburgh has been owned this badly by a division rival.
(22) - The 49ers are still young, so I wouldn't exactly say they "blew" their playoff chances by any means.
(25) - Jason Campbell continues to play well with Ladell Betts in the backfield.
(20) - Harrington's play to close the season has opened the door for Daunte Culpepper again next season.
(28) - It's a shame what happened to Leinart, but Kurt Warner has basically beaten the 49ers twice now.
(29) - The 49ers offense has been better under Tim Rattay, but Chris Simms should be the starter next season.
(27) - It's tough for the Browns to win when they're playing with all second- and third-stringers.
(26) - It wasn't Jackson's fault, but the Vikings offense was awful against the Packers.
(30) - The Texans had to feel great about beating the Colts, but several other teams have already done what they did.
(31) - For a second there, it looked like Kitna and the Lions would play themselves out of the Brady Quinn bowl.
(32) - Rumor or not, doesn't it only make sense to just fire Art Shell?
