1 (1) | | The Colts have
defeated three teams that currently have three wins. The Patriots haven't
played a team yet with three wins. The Colts dominated the Buccaneers
without Marvin Harrison or Joseph Addai. Is that enough for them to earn
the No. 1 spot in the rankings? |
2 (2) | | Tom Brady and the
Patriots continue rolling. Against the Browns, the Patriots weren't particularly
sharp, but still took home a 17-point victory. The best test of the season comes
against the third ranked team below, featuring Wade Phillips and the Dallas
Cowboys. |
3 (3) | | Dallas fans must have
been clutching their hearts in fear of a letdown to the Buffalo Bills.
Despite having six turnovers, the Cowboys came away with a last second
victory, something that should never happen in the NFL. |
4 (6) |
| No Hines Ward? No Troy
Polamalu? No Santonio Holmes? No worries, the Steelers dominated the
Seahawks 21-0, making sure they made a statement that the Cardinals game
was merely a letdown. |
5 (4) |
| Plain and simple: the
Green Bay Packers blew a huge opportunity. Green Bay couldn't run the ball
all season, and as soon as they found a little success on the ground, they
got too confident in it and stopped being aggressive through the air. |
6 (7) |
| Three
interceptions for Vince Young? Victory. Just having him on the field seems
to motivate the Titans to be competitive in every single game -- major
props to head coach Jeff Fisher yet again. |

|
| The Redskins may
quietly be the second best team in the NFC, only behind the Dallas
Cowboys. If the Redskins receivers can manage to stay healthy, Jason
Campbell's game-management will only continue to get stronger. |
8 (9) |
| The Giants are red hot
right now. However, here's what I'd like to see: after the Giants lose
again, will they respond with a victory, or with a collapse like they had
last year? |
9 (11) |
| Keep and eye out for
Dennis Northcutt, who is becoming one of the Jaguars fewest "manageable"
receivers in years. More importantly, Maurice-Jones Drew is starting to
roll. |
10 (15)
|
| Scoring over 40
points? Only allowing a field goal? Against the Denver Broncos? On the road?
The Chargers are back, and the league has been put on notice. |
11 (8)
|
| Jeff Garcia played a
good game overall, but now the possible ineptness of a running game could
be a killer for the Buccaneers. Still, this team is atop the NFC South and
should rebound after a tough road game. |

|
| So much for being
pumped about the Super Bowl re-match. That outing alone lost a lot of my
faith in the Seahawks, especially considering how good the Cardinals have
been looking. |
13 (16)
|
| Kurt Warner is a
starter again, but he had been thriving in a "come in the game" type of
role. Will he be able to keep up the Cardinals' momentum? |

|
| Beating the Dolphins
to end a two-game slide was enormous for the Texans' chances this year in
the tough AFC South. With Ahman Green returning this week, it's only a
matter of time before Andre Johnson comes back as well to improve the
offense. |
15 (12)
|
| I honestly don't know
what to say about the Lions' pathetic offensive effort against the
Redskins, especially after they were amongst the top offenses in football
over the first four weeks. |
16 (22)
|
| The Panthers didn't
play well enough to move up six spots, but they are 3-2 despite not having
a quarterback right now. With a lot of luck, maybe Vinny Testaverde will
actually do something this week. If not, the Panthers are doomed. |
17 (18) |
| Despite losing by 17
points, the Browns actually put up the best fight against the Patriots
this season. Cleveland's schedule is very favorable the rest of the year:
if they beat the teams they should beat, they could be a late season
threat. |
18 (19)
|
| Daunte Culpepper will
have a lot more work to do against a Chargers team that could be ready to
get on a roll. This is the game where Oakland has to prove they are a
changed franchise this season. |
19 (25)
|
| The Bears may have
saved their season with a couple of huge defensive plays against the
Packers. |
20 (20) |
| It was ugly, but the
Ravens can brag about defeating their former Super Bowl winning
quarterback, Trent Dilfer, for the second time in a row. |
21 (14)
|
| The 49ers offense is
dead. Alex Smith wasn't doing much either, but at least he contributed to
the maturation of the offense. |
22 (21) |
| Coming off of the bye,
the Bengals need Rudi Johnson back to get back into the AFC North race. |
23 (10)
|
| There isn't a
game-changer on the Broncos, and that is killing them right now. After all
of the additions Denver made in the secondary and at running back, things
are only looking to get worse with Travis Henry's issues. |
24 (24) |
| The Eagles have been
known for starting slow and finishing strong: will that be true again this
year, following the bye week? |
25 (26) |
| I may have gone mute
for an entire week if I was a Bills fan. The euphoria of upsetting the
NFC's best on Monday Night just disappeared so suddenly... |
26 (23)
|
| So much for
Larry Johnson and the Chiefs' running game getting back on track. |
27 (29) |
| After Joey Harrington
had started to show some consistency, it didn't take long for him to
struggle and see Byron Leftwich enter the game. |
28 (27) |
| Thomas Jones may be
able to help the Bears this year, but he hasn't made any impact whatsoever with
the Jets. |
29 (28) |
| Coming off the bye, is
there any hope for the Vikings offense beyond Adrian Peterson? |
30 (30) |
| The Saints completely
blew another opportunity to get back on track. I'm dying to see Drew Brees
and Reggie Bush explode like the Chargers did, but it just isn't
happening. |
31 (31) |
| I hope Trent Green's
career isn't over. Things aren't looking good for Miami, who will start
backup Cleo Lemon this week. |
32 (32) |
| Gus Frerotte gave the
Rams their best offensive performance of the season, but more mistakes
inevitably led to the Rams' downfall. |
