Cleveland, OH. (PFCritics) -- The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran punter Tom Rouen on Thursday. Rouen was released by the Seattle Seahawks a few weeks ago after playing in the Super Bowl last year.
Rouen began his 14-year career with the New York Giants in 1991. He spent most of his career with the Denver Broncos, playing nine years for them. Last year, Rouen averaged 41.6 yards per punt. He was outstanding during the Super Bowl, averaging 50.2 yards per punt.
The team waived Tom Malone to make room for Rouen. Malone was a rookie free agent that the team signed after the draft.
