Green Bay Packers wide receiver Koren Robinson was sentenced to 90 days in jail after violating probation. The jail time will not hurt Robinson's playing time with the Packers, since he will not serve the sentence until the season is officially over. Robinson has had a troubled career, which was the reasoning for him being released from both the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings over the past few years. On both teams, he was a starting receiver when he was released.
"I had a chance to review Mr. Robinson's file. There are certainly numerous violations," said Judge Robert McSeveney, the judge who sentenced Robinson. "Given Mr. Robinson's record ... 90 days in jail would be appropriate."
The sentence must begin by March 1st, 2007. On that date, he'll have another court hearing as well. Robinson declined to comment on the entire situation, but Packers head coach Mike McCarthy believed that he would be able to return to practice on Thursday. If everything goes as planned, Robinson will play this Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.
