The Seattle Seahawks have released linebacker Jamie Sharper and cornerbacks Andre Dyson and Michael Harden, saving about $4.5 million in cap. The Seahawks are about $14 million under the cap, and could be using that money to make a pitch at Shaun Alexander, whom they would love to have back.
Sharper started eight games for the Seahawks last year before finishing the season on the injured reserve due to an infection in his right knee. He had 37 tackles and one forced fumble on the season. He signed with the Seahawks this past season after playing with the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans in the previous eight years.
Dyson signed with the Seahawks last season and started five games. His biggest game of the year came against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, where he returned an interception 72 yards and a fumble 25-yards, each for touchdowns. He sprained his ankle on the second touchdown and did not play again until the playoffs. Before being with the Seahawks, Dyson started for the Tennessee Titans.
Harden was signed after Dyson went down, and was inactive during the postseason.
