After playing well in the preseason, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Anthony Wright will not be on the sideline as the backup to Carson Palmer for the next two weeks after having an appendectomy Friday morning.

For the next two games, Doug Johnson will serve as the backup to Palmer. Rookie wide receiver Reggie McNeal will be considered the third-string quarterback on the depth chart until Wright returns.

Wright has plenty of experience as a backup in his career, and started seven games for the Baltimore Ravens last season.
