Apparently, the Denver Broncos
still aren't finished with making trades. According to Peter Schaffer, the agent of
Al Wilson, the team are shopping for a partner to deal the talented middle linebacker. The NFL Network has already reported that the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Detroit Lions have shown an interest in Wilson.
"It's a little premature. There are a number of teams that are interested in Al -- Al is a player who is definitely in high demand -- but no decision has been made even whether Al will be traded," said Schaffer to The Associated Press. "There's a number of moving parts. We're just going to take it one move at a time."
If the Broncos trade Wilson, they could move
D.J. Williams into his position. Wilson is scheduled to make $5.2 million in salary this season, after recording 113 tackles, five sacks, and a forced fumble last season. He also made his fifth Pro Bowl appearance.
"The Giants have expressed interest," Schaffer said. "We're exploring all options. We want to make a decision that's best in Al's short-term and long-term interests."
Wilson has been a defensive leader for the Broncos, so a team would have to pay a heavy price to acquire him. However, with how lackluster the Broncos seemed in the second half of last season, the team is trying to get some fresh faces on the team. With that said, nothing is saying that he
can't stay in Denver.
"He's had a wonderful run here -- and I'm not by any means saying that run is over. It may continue."
