The Arizona Cardinals have signed fifth-round draft pick Brandon Johnson and seventh-round draft pick Todd Watkins to three-year deals. They are the first picks the Cardinals have signed from the 2006 draft.
Johnson, an outside linebacker, played for Louisville during his college career. Last season and recorded 72 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions. He also blocked six kicks during his career, including four during his first college season back in 2002.
Watkins, a wide receiver, played for Brigham Young during his college career. He was a starter the past two seasons, and recorded a total of 1,605 yards receiving with 13 touchdowns. Last year, he had 563 yards receiving, but seven touchdowns. With the Cardinals talented core of receivers in Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, it'll be difficult for Watkins to make an impression, but he has a chance to make the final roster as a backup.
