The Chicago Bears are showing interest in WR Antwaan Randle El, reports the Chicago Tribune. It is believed that attaining Randle El will be a top priority for the Bears once free agency begins.
Randle El, who has spent his first four seasons with the Bears, will be playing in the Super Bowl on February 5th, 2006. When the Steelers lost Plaxico Burress in the offseason, Randle El was promoted to a starter beside Hines Ward. However, Randle El's statistics actually declined slightly from the year before.
This year, Randle El caught 35 passes for 558 yards and one touchdown. He was lethal on punt returns though, having two touchdowns and a 10.2 average. The Bears may also be interested in the fact that Randle El can be a third-string quarterback. That would allow the Bears to use one less roster spot and have the option of implementing some more trick plays.
The Steelers may not let him go too easily though. After Randle El, the Steelers only have Cedrick Wilson, Lee Mays, and the injured Quincy Morgan on their depth chart.
