Bengals starting left tackle Levi Jones returned to practice yesterday after being involved in a car accident on Monday.

Tight end James Whalen tore cartilage in his knee on Monday that will require surgery. It is believed that he should be ready by the season opener, but chances of Whalen still being on the roster at that time are slim.

Guard Eric Steinbach and wide receiver Maurice Mann could be back by the middle of the week. Steinbach is currently the team's starting left guard, and Mann is fighting for a spot on the roster as a wide out.

Fullback Jeremi Johnson should be back by the end of the week, he's slated to be the man leading the way for Rudi Johnson and Chris Perry this year.
