After the injury to Carson Palmer, the Cincinnati Bengals are showing a strong interest in re-signing backup quarterback Jon Kitna, reports ESPN's John Clayton.

Although the Bengals could seek another veteran free agent as an insurance policy instead, Kitna is already used to the system. Kitna may feel like he has a better chance to play somewhere else as well if he feels that he can start.

It is not yet known whether or not Palmer will miss any games in 2006. At the moment, the Bengals hope that he can return just before the season begins.
