Cleveland, Oh. (PFCritics) -- The Cincinnati Bengals have traded quarterback Dave Ragone to the St. Louis Rams for an undisclosed draft pick in the 2007 draft. This will be Ragone's third team in nearly enough, since he was cut by the Houston Texans, signed by the Bengals, and now traded to the Rams. Originally, the Bengals wanted him for depth in case Carson Palmer was not ready at the start of the season. By trading Ragone, it may show the Bengals believe Palmer will be ready.

On the other hand, the Bengals are still stacked at the position. Anthony Wright and Doug Johnson will already be competing for the backup job, as well as free agent rookie Erik Meyer. On the Rams, Ragone joins Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jeff Smoker in the competition for the third-string quarterback. Veteran Gus Frerotte will be the backup to Marc Bulger.

Ragone played in two games during his three seasons with the Texans. he started two games as a rookie and threw for 135 yards with one interception.

It is believed that the Bengals acquired a low-round draft pick, probably in the sixth or seventh round.
