-
The Buffalo Bills signed rookie quarterback Trent Edwards to a deal on Tuesday after selecting him in the third-round of the draft. Edwards is only the second draft pick to sign on with the Bills thus far.

-During his senior year of college, Edwards played in seven games and went 94-of-156 for 1,027 yards for six touchdowns and six interceptions. He missed the rest of the season with a broken foot. Edwards is expected to compete with backup quarterback Craig Nall for the team's No. 2 job behind starter J.P. Losman.

Here is our scouting review on Edwards from before the draft:

Positives: Trent Edwards started 31 games at Stanford over four seasons, giving him valuable experience at the position. He has adequate arm strength and accuracy and focuses on trying to analyze defenses by making adjustments on the fly. He has a quick release and did well in college considering he didn't have well-known talent surrounding him. He doesn't have blazing speed, but he can move around enough to create some opportunities on offense.

Negatives: Although it wasn't necessarily his fault, he was often on the end of negative plays due to the lack of talent around him. When Edwards makes his adjustments to try and outsmart a defense, sometimes he overdoes it and ends up making a poor decision. A big concern surrounding Edwards is the fact that he is coming off of an injury that only allowed him to play in seven games last season, as he threw six touchdowns and six interceptions. He wasn't able to throw too good of a deep ball in college.
