The Bills have not had the tight end play a significant role in their offense for awhile, but that may begin to change. The Bills signed tight end Robert Royal to a five-year deal worth about $10 million.
The Bills were in need of a tight end after releasing veteran Mark Campbell. Royal will have to compete with Tim Euhus and Kevin Everett for the starting job. Royal is coming off a career season with Washington, where he caught 18 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.
"I still have a lot in the tank. I'm very young and once I go out there, I can prove a lot of people wrong," Royal said. "I'm glad I've got this opportunity to show people, and I'm just excited."
The Bills have also interviewed wide receiver Andre Davis, who used to play for the Cleveland Browns. If they sign him, Holcomb would re-gain one of his favorite targets from Cleveland.
