Chad Pennington isn't ready to play after his shoulder injury. Neither is Jay Fiedler, the Jets backup, who injured his shoulder against Jacksonville on Sunday. That means that Brooks Bollinger, the Jets' third stringer, will likely get the start Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens.
"I'll know more probably (Tuesday) on the status of both guys," said head coach Herman Edwards on Monday. "At this point, I'm preparing Brooks Bollinger to be our starting quarterback."
Bollinger has only played in one game. Last year, Bollinger filled in for the injured Quincy Carter, who was already filling in for Pennington. Bollinger was 5-of-9 for 60 yards.
"I'm just going out to try and execute the plays that they call with knowing that I have an understanding of how to manage a football game and what I need to do to help the team win," Bollinger said.
There is still a slim chance that Fiedler or Pennington could play, but the chances of that occuring are not likely.
