Just before the NFL season begins, the San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins have announced who their starting quarterbacks this season. The Chargers will go with Drew Brees, and the Dolphins will go with Jay Fiedler. Neither team is expected to compete for the playoffs this season, and are in a "re-building" mode.

The Chargers chose not to have their number one pick in the draft, Phillip Rivers, start. In fact, Rivers will start as the third stringer with Doug Flutie as the number two guy. Rivers hurt any chance of him starting my holding out for a long time, and hardly getting time to work with the team compared to Brees.

Jay Fiedler will start the Dolphins opener at least. This will be the fifth straight season that Fiedler has started for the Dolphins. If they struggle, which they likely will with the loss of Ricky Williams, then AJ Feely will probably have plenty of chances as well. The Dolphins have high hopes going into every season, but thing just always seem to be falling apart for them.
