Last season after drafting quarterback Eli Manning and then trading to get Phillip Rivers, many thought that Rivers would actually start that season. Now, you may have to wonder how long Rivers will have to wait.
After a shocking year by Drew Brees last season, the Chargers have slapped him with the franchise tag, keeping him for the next season at least. He will make up around $8 million.
Brees was voted the comeback player of the year, and rightly so. Brees threw for 27 touchdowns and only seven interceptions, leading his team into the first round of the playoffs.
None of this may have happened if Phillip Rivers didn't hold out so long before the season. Brees certainly took advantage of the situation, and it has paid off.
