The Denver Broncos released three of their impact players on Wednesday, all of whom will be difficult to replace. The team released running back Mike Anderson, defensive end Trevor Pryce, and tight end Jeb Putzier.
Anderson, who is starting to get older at age 32, led the Broncos with 1,014 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. Anderson split time with running back Tatum Bell, who will probably become the team's featured back next season.
Pryce had four sacks last season, which tied for the team-lead. The Broncos will save about $8.5 million with his release.
Putzier has done very well for a sixth-round draft pick in 2002. Last year, he had 37 catches for 481 yards and was often a favorable target for quarterback Jake Plummer.
