The Denver Broncos added to their depth at the receiving position by signing Rashaun Woods to a deal. Woods, who was selected in the first round of the 2004 draft by the San Francisco 49ers, has not had the typical career you would expect of a first rounder. During his rookie season, Woods played in 14 games, but only caught seven passes for 160 yards. Last season, Woods did not play after spending 13 games on the injured reserve. During the offseason, Woods was traded to the San Diego Chargers for cornerback Sammy Davis. He didn't cut it for the Chargers, and was waived.
The Broncos are taking a chance on Woods, possibly as another insurance policy since Ashley Lelie is still holding out. Lelie wants to be traded to another team, or released. Lelie wants to be traded to a team where he can become their No. 1 receiver.
