The Cleveland Browns have named rookie QB Charlie Frye as their starter for their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The announcement game via CBS 19, a local channel in Cleveland.
This does not mean that Frye will start for the remainder of the season yet. Dilfer is nursing soreness in both knees, but will probably back up Frye against the Jaguars.
Frye has seen some game action the past two weeks. Last week, he came in for one play when Dilfer was dinged. He threw an interception on his only pass after a miscommunication with rookie WR Braylon Edwards.
The conditions are snowy and cold in Cleveland, so it'll be interesting to see how well he performs. The Jaguars will be starting their backup quarterback as well, David Garrad, after starting QB Byron Leftwich broke his ankle last week.
