A lot of news today on the Cleveland Browns front, starting with kick returner Joshua Cribbs being signed to a one-year deal. In that same article, you'll notice that the Browns also signed yet another cornerback, from the Chicago Bears no less, by the name of Daven Holly. Last year, Cribbs averaged 24.3 yards per return for us, but we all know that he showed the potential to go the distance every single time.

Holly was a seventh-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers last year. He was cut before the season started, and signed by the Bears a day later. The only game he played in was the season finale against the Minnesota Vikings, a game in which he had two tackles on special teams. If you remember, the Browns just signed cornerback Chris Thompson earlier in the week, whom was also on the Bears last year. At the moment, Daylon McCutcheon, Gary Baxter, and Leigh Bodden have the top three spots locked up. After that, the competition will be feisty with Holly, Thompson, Antonio Perkins, Pete Hunter, DeMario Minter, and several others competing for a spot.

Jeff Walcott of ClevelandBrowns.com has another position preview article online, this time featuring the Browns' offensive line for this season. The probable starters are Kevin Shaffer, Joe Andruzzi, LeCharles Bentley, Cosey Coleman, and Ryan Tucker. We know about most of them, but here are some one-liner recaps on the backups, according to Walcott:

1. Kirk Chambers: Has turned into a viable backup, which is good for a former seventh-round draft pick.


2. Nat Dorsey: Acquired for Fowler last year, he has a ton of potential still. We may actually get to see him play this year.


3. Bob Hallen: A nine-year NFL veteran, Hallen will probably end up being the team's backup center.


4. Dave Yovanovits: Played in two games last year, and is a hard-working interior lineman.


5. Jonathan Dunn: He spent all of last year on the IR, and will need to show a lot to stay on the team.


6. Atlas Herrion: Spent all of last year on the Browns PS, and started at guard in the World Bowl (NFLE).


7. Pete McMahon: Spent all of last season on the practice squad and will have to fight to make the team as a backup.


8. Isaac Sowells: The Browns' fourth-round draft pick has been very impressive. Crennel stated he could start next year.


9. Ben Brielmaier: A former defensive tackle who ended up starting 20 games at left tackle in college.


10. Rob Smith: Was very versatile in college, filling in for team injuries.


11. Walter Stith: Has tremendous size at 6-foot-9, 320 pounds, but has a lot to learn at his position.
