It's a nice, hot summer day today in Cleveland, isn't it? Maybe a little too hot, especially if you're without air conditioning. Regardless, here is a wrap-up on the news from this morning's Plain Dealer:

  1. Magazine Reviews: Most of the magazines are predicting that the Browns will finish in 3rd or 4th place this season. Pro Football Weekly 2006 gave the Browns the most hope, predicting a 3rd place finish with an 8-8 record this year for the Browns. That would be outstanding if that happened, especially since we're playing in a very tough decision. Other notes from the magazines include the fact that we need to give up on William Green, and that the signing of Ted Washington won't work out because he's too old. The signings the magazines touted the most were the signings of Joe Jurevicius and Willie McGinest.

  2. Wimbley Contract News: The Browns are working hard to get Kamerion Wimbley signed before training camp starts on July 26th. Wimbley's agent, Joe Linta, says he sees no reason why Wimbley can't be signed before that date. I'd like to believe him, but with all of the holdouts you see in the NFL these days, I'll have to see it to believe it.

  3. Jackson Starting?:
  4. Tony Grossi believes that D'Qwell Jackson will be the starting right inside linebacker when the season begins. As for Wimbley, he believes he'll start the season as a specialized pass rusher, and then become a starting outside linebacker mid-way through the season. And, Braylon Edwards should be back after the bye week at the earliest.
  5. Training Camp: Browns rookies will report to training camp next Sunday, on July 23rd. The rest of the team is scheduled to report on July 26th.

Just a little note from Saturday's paper, tickets for the Browns Family Night at Cleveland Browns Stadium are now available. The practice will take place on August 4th, and starts at 7:00 PM. Let's fill up that stadium and get an early, and cheap, sneak peak of what it feels like to be in the Browns stadium!
