As if the Arizona Cardinals weren't hurting enough, the team learned that defensive end Bertrand Berry will miss the remainder of the season after he tore his triceps muscle this past Sunday against the Detroit Lions. He will undergo surgery later this week in all likelihood, which will end his season.
"A big loss for us," Green said. "I've always said Bertrand is the No. 1 leader on our team."
Berry leads the Cardinals in sacks with six, including two in the team's win over the Lions. The injury occurred when he tried to sack Lions quarterback Jon Kitna in the third quarter of the game.
"It felt kind of weird," Berry said after the game. "Coming off the block I slammed my hand down trying to get his hands off me, and something didn't feel right. I was able to finish the play, but something didn't feel right."
Berry will need about four months to recover. Third-year man Antonio Smith will start in place of him.
