The New England Patriots have released one of the NFL's most popular cornerbacks today, Ty Law. The move came mainly so the team wouldn't have to pay him $12.5 million next season.

Although Law is an excellent player, the Patriots proved that they can win with almost anybody back in the secondary. Law was injured for most of the season including the entire postseason.

This isn't the first time that the Patriots have released a good secondary player. Last season, Lawyer Milloy was released by the team. The differance is that last year, the move came as a shocker as it was during the season.

Law should have a good market ready to pursue him, as there aren't a lot of free agent cornerbacks this season.
