In a rather surprising move the Kansas City Chiefs have released 44 year old veteran kicker Morten Andersen. Andersen will be replaced by 26 year old Lawrence Tynes, who spent the last two years in the CFL with the Ottawa Renegades, and has never kicked in a regular season NFL game.

Andersen made only one field goal this preaseason, a 28 yarder.  Tynes is said to have more range than Andersen which ultimately led to Andersen getting the "boot".

Morten Andersen is the NFL's second all time leading scorer with 2,259 points over his 18 year NFL career, behind only Gary Anderson.
