The Kansas City Chiefs have released wide receiver Johnnie Morton. The team had wanted to lower Morton's contract, but he refused two weeks ago. He was asked not to attend camp the past two weeks, and was cut as soon as possible.

Morton had spent three seasons with the Chiefs, and was with the Detroit Lions before that. At times, Morton was considered the Chiefs number one receiver, although tight end Tony Gonzalez usually gets most of the receptions.
