Trent Green isn't done yet. After sustaining a serious concussion this past weekend for the second time in as many seasons, the 37-year-old veteran quarterback is optimistic about his status. Green underwent medical tests and consultations in Kansas City to draw some comparisons to last year's concussion.
"He went through some tests this morning, and he told me that it's very encouraging," said Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron. "He's in Kansas City, dealing with the people he dealt with last year so they can make a direct comparison."
"He's really upbeat," Cameron said. "That's what makes those guys who they are -- they're competitors. They can't imagine not playing. With that being said, we've got to let this thing play out."
Last season, Green's concussion kept him out of action for eight games. This weekend, it has already been confirmed that backup quarterback Cleo Lemon will get the start. Rookie quarterback John Beck, who was drafted early by Miami this past April, could see his debut as a starter sooner than expected.
"John's one play away at this point," Cameron said. "He's one play closer than he was before."
Things aren't looking too good for the winless Dolphins, who are facing an above average Cleveland Browns team this week. Miami's running game has been potent, but the team's defense has been a nuisance.
