The Indianapolis Colts placed cornerback Jason David and defensive end Robert Mathis on the injury report on Friday as probably.

Mathis left Friday's practice early due to back spasms. He led the Colts with 9.5 sacks this season and has been a big force in the playoffs to complement defensive end Dwight Freeny.

"He's fine," said Colts head coach Tony Dungy. "He left as a precaution."

Meanwhile, David sat out of the entire practice due to a nagging abdomen injury. The Colts other starting cornerback, Nick Harper, is listed as questionable still after having a sprained left ankle. His status for Sunday's game will be a game-time decision.

"We decided it didn't make any sense for him to go out and try to practice today," Dungy said. "We'll wait to see how Nick feels on Sunday at the stadium."

Injuries are critical for any game, especially the Super Bowl. However, since both teams have had an extra week of practice/rest, some of these decisions are likely precautions, as Dungy stated.
