The Indianapolis Colts release Cory Sauter, who was believed to be slotted as the number two quarterback behind Peyton Manning this season. Sauter went 28 for 40 for 336 yards and a touchdown in the preseason.

Instead, the Colts went with Joe Hamilton as Manning's backup. Hamilton was drafted by Tony Dungy in 2000 when Dungy coached Tampa Bay.
