The Colts' defense can't afford any more injuries right now. Thankfully, it appears that defensive end Dwight Freeny will be "ok". Freeny did not practice in the morning after complaining about a sore shoulder. He was cleared to practice in the afternoon, but only did a light workout.

"The MRI came back fine," said Colts head coach Tony Dungy. "He worked and did well, and slowly, but surely, we're starting to get some of them (injured players) back."

According to the Colts, they were merely taking every precaution necessary. Dungy stated that if it had been a regular season game, Freeny would have stayed in and shrugged it off. There is a chance that he will still be able to play in this Thursday's preseason game against the St. Louis Rams. It may not be worth the risk though, considering what the Colts have had to deal with so far.

Defensive tackle Montae Reagor and safeties Mike Doss and Bob Sanders have missed a weeks worth of training camp this year already, and defensive tackle Corey Simon is currently nursing an injury. On top of that, linebackers Gary Brackett and Cato June are also nursing injuries. The best thing about all these injuries: none of them are serious, and shouldn't keep them out of any regular season games.

At the moment, Sanders is on the PUP list an is expected to be activated next week to start practicing.

"I feel good right now," Sanders said. "The plan is to start doing one-a-days Tuesday."

The Colts' defense improved immensely last season, and it's tough to tell whether or not they'd be able to recover from numerous injuries to their depth chart during the season.
