The Indianapolis Colts continue to sign the players that are the keys to their future. The Colts signed defensive lineman Raheem Brock to a five-year deal on Friday to prevent him from reaching free agency. Brock would have become an unrestricted free agent on March 3rd.
"He's extremely happy that coach (Tony) Dungy and Bill Polian expressed that they wanted to have him back and we wanted to get it done," said Brock's agent, Kevin Pompey.
Brock's signing comes shortly after the team reached a six-year, $39 million with receiver Reggie Wayne. The Colts have not reached a deal with talented running back Edgerrin James though.
The Colts saved some salary cap room by cutting defensive tackle Josh Williams. The move saves $1.3 million for the Colts in salary next season.
Brock signed with the Colts in 2002 after being released by the Philadelphia Eagles. Brock was originally a seventh-round draft pick. He has played both defensive tackle and defensive end for the Colts.
"I think they wanted to make sure Raheem was comfortable playing inside and outside," Pompey said. "It really doesn't matter him. He just wants to play."
