The Dallas Cowboys signed offensive tackle Jason Fabini right after they signed Terrell Owens. Fabini is a key signing as well, who agreed to a three-year deal worth about $4.5 million for the time being. Fabini will play right tackle, a position the team has been weak in for years. He tore a chest muscle with the New York Jets last year, but is fine now.
"I'm healed up and ready to go," Fabini said. "I start the offseason program Monday."
The Cowboys know how important the signing is.
"He can really help solidify our offensive line," said team vice president Stephen Jones. "We needed some flexibility there as well."
Fabini rejoins head coach Bill Parcells, who coached him with the Jets years ago.
"It made it easier, knowing Bill is here," said Fabini. "He's a great coach. I'm looking forward to working for him again. He told me there was an opportunity at right tackle. I'm just looking forward for the chance to compete for the job and to help the team."
