Kelly Holcomb, Craig Nall, and J.P. Losman know that each of them are in for a fight throughout training camp and the preseason. Any little misfortune could cost them a shot at the starting job. That doesn't do well for Craig Nall, who hurt his left hamstring while practicing Saturday. The severity of the injury could not be determined yet.
"It feels OK, just going to play it smart," Nall told The Associated Press. "It's just doing everything we can so I can get back out on the field as soon as possible."
The Bills will hold their first practice in full pads on Monday, which Nall hopes to be ready for.
"We're hoping it's nothing significant, but we won't know for a couple of days," said Bills coach Dick Jauron.
Nall suffered the injury during 11-on-11 drills Saturday.
"I just felt a little tweak in the hamstring when I just kind of changed direction and went to take off full speed," Nall said. "I knew better than to try to tough it out and keep going."
In the end, the injury should not affect Nall's chances at winning the starting job too much. Now, if it were Kelly Holcomb, a man who has been often injured during his career, then yes, it may cost him.
