And then, there was one. The New York Jets signed first-round draft pick Darrelle Revis on Wednesday, finally ending the cornerbacks long holdout. Now, quarterback JaMarcus Russell is the only first-round player that has yet to sign.
Revis, who was selected 14th overall by the Jets, has already missed a whopping 22 practices, as well as the team's first preseason game last Friday against the Atlanta Falcons. The Jets are relieved that the process is finally over.
"We're glad it's over," general manager Mike Tannenbaum said.
Despite Revis' holdout, he is expected to compete for a starting role. He was considered one of the best cornerbacks in this year's draft class, and will be depended on to stop division rival New England Patriots after they added Randy Moss and Donte Stallworth in the offseason. When he plays is up to head coach Eric Mangini.
"He'll play when Eric feels he's ready," Tannenbaum said.
Exact terms of the deal have not yet been released.
