The Miami Dolphins released linebacker Junior Seau on Monday. The move will save the Dolphins $2.92 million against the cap. The move was expected due to his age and constant injuries over the past two seasons, where he missed a total of 17 games. He has finished the past two seasons on the injured reserve.
"Ideally, we would like to keep many of those players on our roster, but we are simply not able to do that," coach Nick Saban said.
Seau, who has played in the league for 16 years, had been with the Dolphins for the past three years. Seau will still try to sign on with another team rather than retiring.
