There is a good chance that the Philadelphia Eagles will sign veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia soon, reports phillyburbs.com. The Eagles would also release backups Koy Detmer and Mike McMahon in the process. Garcia knows how Marty Mornhinweg, the Eagles offensive coordinator, works due to their days together on the San Francisco 49ers.

Last year, Garcia played for the Detroit Lions as a backup and part-time starter. Donovan McNabb missed half of the season last year to injury, and Garcia would be a more reliable person to step into a game when needed and keep some momentum going due to his mobility.

If the signing occurs, you'd have to wonder if Terrell Owens and Garcia could technically be on the same roster for a short period of time before the Eagles release the troubled receiver.
