The Eagles just can't catch a break when it comes to receivers. The Eagles top receiver, Reggie Brown, injured his hamstring during practice on Saturday. Brown limped off the field and eventually walked to the locker room under his own power. Although it doesn't seem to be anything too serious, the team has not commented on his injury yet. Brown, a second-round draft pick from 2005, led all rookies in receiving yards with 571 last season.
Veteran receiver Todd Pinkston will be back as the Eagles second receiver in all liklihood. Beyond that, Greg Lewis, Jabar Gaffney, Darnerien McCants, Hank Baskett, Jason Avant, and Jeremy Bloom are trying to emerge as threats. Lewis has the most success with the Eagles among that group, and could win the third or fourth receiving job.
On top of the receivers, star tight end L.J. Smith missed his third straight practice due to a sprained shoulder. Bloom and Avant are day-to-day with injuries as well.
