The Philadelphia Eagles have signed kicker Jose Cortez until David Akers returns from injury. The Eagles waived kicker Todd France, who had been replacing Akers already for the past few weeks.

Cortez was just released by the Dallas Cowboys, who were not pleased with some of his "clutch" misses. The final straw came when Cortez missed a 29-yard field goal against the Seahawks.

France was good for the Eagles, going 6-for-7 on field goals this year. Akers should be making his return in about a week or two.
